J. Michael (Mike) Pickens
Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas Governor and 2008 presidential candidate appointed J. Michael (Mike) Pickens as Arkansas Insurance Commissioner for two terms from January 1997-January 2005. Mike also served as NAIC secretary-treasurer, vice president and in 2003, as NAIC president. Representing Arkansas at the NAIC. In addition he was the Chair of the International Insurance Relations Committee, where he worked closely with the United States government and regulators all over the world — most notably China, India, Japan, Vietnam, Egypt, Poland, and Latin America. Mike currently is a partner in the Little Rock, AR law firm of Friday, Eldredge & Clark, where he primarily practices in the areas of financial services regulatory law and governmental relations. He serves on a number of insurer boards, and is a member of the board of directors of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation, where he is serving his second term. Mike is a member of the board of trustees of Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL.
